Information for users of voice output devices

Abbreviations on this website are marked. Configure your voice output to expand them.
Example: "e.g." is spelled out as "for example" and not as "ee stop gee stop". Acronyms can also be expanded. Acronyms are abbreviations that are rendered as abbreviations in normal spoken language, such as "UNO" and "NATO". If your voice output software supports acronyms, you can configure it to expand them.

PDF data

Unless specifically indicated, the PDF files on this web site generally do not (yet) contain accessibility features. Our internet team converts PDF documents into HTML if this can be done with a reasonable amount of effort (time, money, manpower etc.). Printed brochures, fax order forms, town statutes and bylaws, for example, are not converted.

Printing

To print out a page, click on the print symbol of your browser or select the corresponding menu item. For most documents we have designed a view that is optimized for printing, which you can call up by clicking on the button "print preview".

Bookmarks

To avoid having to type in the full address of the Herne website each time you visit, use the bookmark function of your browser and access the site with a single mouse click. This function is called "Favorites" in Internet Explorer. Modern browsers offer a function that completes web addresses automatically. Start to key in the address, and the browser finishes it off. If you are interested in this function and it is not activated, click the "Help" button to find out how to do it.

You can browse the contents of the Herne website with the help of the search box at the top of each page. Type in your search(s) word and press Enter. The results of the full-text search will be displayed immediately.
